The Senate majority leader appeared on Hugh Hewitt’s radio show today to state that his Senate conference would not debate what he called a “blue-state bailout.”

Here’s the context:

Basically, Mitch McConnell knows the pandemic has the potential to weaken his enemies in cities and blue states to the point of insolvency, resulting in mass layoffs, pension obligations going unmet, and public services going unfunded and vanishing.

This is more than normal partisanship. In a very real sense, it’s betrayal of his oath office, and yet another reason why I keep saying we are in the throes of a soft civil war.
