It’s happening. It’s painfully slow. But democracy is messy, and we’re heading in the right direction. Joe Biden is ahead in Pennsylvania. There are tens of thousands of votes yet to be counted. Without the Keystone State, Donald Trump does not have a path to victory. With it, the former vice president will soon be president-elect.

Meanwhile, there’s still work to be done (after a much-deserved break, of course). We must rebuild civil society and our political discourse so the various forms of home-grown fascism cannot and do not rise again to threatened everything we care about.
