Tim Wise wrote this Twitter thread over the weekend.

It influenced today’s edition of the Editorial Board.

He related his experience campaigning against David Duke’s bid for Louisiana governor. He said the key was treating Duke as a threat to democracy, not as anything close to a normal candidate.

Not long after Trump took office, I thought this goon is so dumb and incompetent that even if he wanted to usher in a Fourth Reich, it couldn’t. But then I learned Hitler was a lot like Trump.

Lazy, incurious, incompetent, kinda dumb. Oh shit, I thought.

In today’s edition, I say the Democrats should make Trump’s racism the focus of everything, as it gives them a chance to offer a fresh and competitive version of American nationality. A liberal one.
