This won’t surprise you but I’ve come to admire Hillary Clinton. I didn’t when I voted for her in 2016. I mean, I respected her. I liked her. I really wanted her to win. But admiration is another thing.
Since her defeat, Clinton has slowly emerged as the best thinker about the Trump presidency. She was right about him during the election. She’s right about him now. And increasingly, as the president’s political weakness keeps growing, Clinton has gotten more vocal with her thoughts about him.
She has called for his impeachment. She has accused him of betrayal. Today, she said that the Kremlin must have kompromat on Trump. During a recent podcast episode, she said, per Aaron Blake, that:
the Russians are leveraging a number of top U.S. politicians. She suggested Russia had kompromat on Trump. She accused 2016 Green Party nominee Jill Stein of being a “Russian asset.” And she suggested Russia might back [Tulsi] Gabbard as a third-party candidate (my amazed italics!).
Again, she’s right. So I’m listening, and I’m admiring. What do you think? —JS
