Our household is still grieving. It probably won’t end for a while. Theresa was our matriarch. So there won’t be a weekend edition of the Editorial Board today. Maybe next weekend. I hope you don’t mind.

In lieu of that, I’m writing this note of gratitude to everyone who sent a piece of wisdom.

Most of you sent kind and thoughtful messages expressing condolences and sympathy. Others shared their own experiences mourning loss. Others reflected on our existence on this planet. Others still made sure that I knew how much they appreciate our efforts here at the Editorial Board and that that matters to them and to democracy.

Thank you so much, my friends. I needed that.

I did not ask anyone to subscribe this week. I didn’t have it in me to ask. The result was a very slow week.
