More than two thousand people have died since I posted this afternoon today’s edition of the Editorial Board, and it’s not even suppertime on the west coast yet. Even as the president and his confederates move to “reopen” the economy, the frequency of death from Covid-19, which is caused by the new coronavirus, is getting faster, not slower.

There is no plan for reopening. There is no process. And there is no leadership.

Meanwhile, very soon, people will be dying at a rate of one Sept. 11, 2001, every day with no end in sight. How could this happen? Well, that’s complicated, but a good way to begin is by saying a president who would cover up his treasonous collusion with Russia is the kind of president who would stand by while a virus ravaged his people.
